Ever wonder what could come out of a partnership between the world's #2 PC maker and the planet's most influential music channel?
The result is "CO:LAB," an integrated social platform for millennials to showcase their talent in music and graphic arts. In other words, it's telling a cohesive story using the latest technology in the most creative way possible.
According to Vicky Agorrilla, country general manager of Lenovo Philippines, who talked about "CO:LAB" in an intimate gathering of press people and bloggers recently, CO:LAB is a six-month platform that aims to enable Filipinos to connect with like-minded individuals with different artistic skills--such as DJs, Vocalists/Instrumentalists, Film Makers or Motion Graphic Artists.
CO:LAB, after all, is a play on the word collaboration. Here, winning talents across these four categories are determined by public votes through the Lenovo-MTV CO:LAB website and regional mentors.
“CO:LAB aims to inspire millennials to take action and turn their dreams into reality,” she said. “Both Lenovo and MTV are innovative companies, with dynamic brand personalities, that are focused on the millennial generation who don’t just dream about achieving, but go out there and do. We chose to collaborate with MTV because it is the iconic destination for global millennials and represents the sweet spot for music and entertainment.”
Building on Lenovo's "For Those Who Do" brand campaign, and MTV's deep knowledge of music and lifestyle, the platform will go across TV and online. With the theme "Pulse of the World," the output will be run simultaneously across India, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
To help support participants, Lenovo and MTV have assembled
a panel of local and regional mentors, each of whom are established leading
individuals in their respective areas of expertise. Mentors will play an important role throughout
the entire campaign, sharing their valuable experience and knowledge in order
to guide and inspire country and regional winners.
For the region, acclaimed contemporary design and art collective, PHUNK and renowned international DJs, Brendon P (The DJ Dispensary) and Matty Wainwright (The DJ Dispensary) have been drafted for the duration of the campaign.
In the Philippines, DJ Nina Saputil of MTV and music and movie director Enzo Valdez are sitting in as mentors.
Deadline of entries have been extended until May 31. For more info, visit the Facebook page Lenovo Co.Lab or log on to www.project-colab.com .
