Not just another mall, this one's 'fishy' (sort of)

With so many malls in the metro, you'd think the market may be saturated. Apparently not. In Quezon City (where the Pantranco terminal used to be located), a new shopping destination is fast rising. It's called Fisher Mall--and it's out to prove there's room for it and that it can hold a candle against bigger mall chains in the country.

The developers of this mall--a family corporation--is positioning Fisher Mall as a lifestyle and fashion destination. Last week, it held a media launch at the Manila Polo Club to introduce themselves and to give an update about the mall's construction.

Fisher Mall is a five-storey shopping destination that takes inspiration from some of the world’s most beautiful malls. Set to open in the last Quarter of 2013, Fisher Mall is bound to give the community it is a located a new shopping experience.

“We are investing heavily in Filipino fashion. Fisher Mall will be a venue for fashionistas—of all shapes and sizes—to mingle. There will be a fashion ramp where runway shows will be held on a regular basis,” said Moleen del Rosario, the better half of Bobby del Rosario.

Together with Bobby's sons Paul, Ray, and Obby, the family has poured their time and effort putting everything in place to make this mall the best possible shopping destination that side of town. Malerie, Obby's fiance, is also helping out.

During the press conference, the Del Rosarios gave the impression that they are not building the mall simply to make money for themselves, though no one can argue that it's a bad thing. More importantly, they want to put up the establishment because it's something that bonds the family together.

Once the mall opens, expect to find exclusive and exciting new brands from the UK, Australia, US, Korea, and Europe as well as the more familiar ones. Envisioned as an interactive place, Fisher Mall will feature augmented reality and a high-tech mobile app.

As a lifestyle and entertainment mall, Fisher Mall will have one of the biggest gaming arcades in the country. With 2,600-square meters dedicated to games.

“Then there’s the cinema” which Ray Del Rosario, President of Mallers Management Corporation said will have that “throwback feel like the ‘20s era” when going to the movies was a big deal. As huge movie buffs, Ray and his brothers really translated  their love for films in making this part of the mall a wonderful experience—even before people enter the cinema to watch.

“It’s a mall that has a more relaxed, more homey environment. We want everybody to feel welcome and have a good time,” said Ray.

Fisher Mall was named as such to pay homage to the Del Rosario’s forefathers who started the successful fishing business based in Malabon. Fishing has always been the family’s main business, and it is this expertise in fishing that would allow Fisher Mall’s supermarket to offer the freshest fish in town—straight from the port.

“The fish will be the highlight of the supermarket. I promise you will be able to taste the difference when you buy direct from source,” said Obby,  President of the Fisherfoods Corporation.

There's so much more to look forward to for Fisher Mall. But for now, the family has decided to keep the juicier details for later. Looking forward to the next press conferences.

  1. That looks an awesome place. I'm gonna try to visit it. I'm pretty sure me and my friends are going to love it. Try visiting Museums in Manila, you'll love it too. Anyway, Thanks for sharing!
