Acer believes it has built a strong enough brand equity over the years through delivering reliable products (mostly personal computers) that the Filipinos have come to love. As the company launches a new set of smartphones, it hopes to capitalize on that strong brand recall and translate to success in the ever crowded mobile market.

And they didn't just release any smartphone--Acer released in the country the first smartphone powered by an Intel processor, the Acer Liquid C1.

It's a lean and mean machine: The Liquid C1 has an Intel® Atom™ Z2420 1.2GHz processor, coupled with best-in-class 3G connectivity. The 400MHz graphics engine ensures images load super smooth and viewing of videos get superb image and sound quality. There's also the 1 GB DDR2 memory that makes it an even more responsive gadget.

The Acer Liquid C1 has an 8-megapixel which can shoot 5 frames-per-second. It has a 4.3-inch TFT (540 x 960) with IPS Touch Capacitive multi-touch display screen; a quad-band 3G Internet.

"It's another milestone for Acer. These new line of Acer smartphones connote both fun and play, yet powerful enough to capture the interest of Filipino smartphone users who now look to their phones for their daily IT needs," Manuel Wong, Acer Philippines general manager, said during the launch.

During the launch last March 18 in Whitespace, the theme was "Let's Play Together" where it was all Summer-y and the vibe was cool and hip.

Along with the Acer Liquid C1, two other phones were unveiled: the Liquid E1 and Liquid Z2, both designed to be "the perfect companion of smartphone enthusiasts for their everyday needs whether for communications or lifestyle needs."

The Acer Liquid E1, on the other hand, brings entertainment to the fullest, through its two speakers with stereo sound features; a large 4.5-inch qHD display screen with IPS technology; the dual-core 1GHz processor for simultaneous yet easy handling of multimedia; and a 1GB RAM and 4GB built-in storage. It also has a 5MP camera with zero shutter delay.

Acer introduces the "Float Caller" feature in the Liquid E1, where calls pop up as mini windows that let you continue without interrupting the screen you are using.

Lastly, the Acer Liquid Z2 is another easy-to-use, cool gadget with a 5MP camera; powered by a dual-core processor which operates using the latest Jellybean 4.1.1 OS (just like the Liquid E1). More importantly, it allows you to put two SIM cards at a time, so no need to keep two phones when all you really need is one.
