Footwear collection completes the G-Star Raw look

When you’re wearing a pair of denim jeans in its purest, most raw form, there’s nothing quite like having the proper footwear to complete the look. It’s like putting an exclamation point at the end of a sentence to make your statement count.

Today, G-Star Raw—a Dutch luxury street wear made by denim specialists, completes their collection by launching several lines of footwear to complement its cutting edge and innovative clothes and apparel.

“True to the identity of G-Star Raw, our footwear has taken the distinctive craftsmanship and originality that made the brand what it is today. Many of the footwear are made of denim but G-Star Raw also experimented on several other materials for the footwear,” said Clarissa Reyes, G-Star Raw’s brand manager.

G-Star Raw footwear reworks authentic styles with new fabrics, finishes and aspects. Attention to detail is paid throughout the design and construction process to take raw ingredients and add a luxury inspired feeling for the street.

Inspired by its early success, G-Star Raw also debuts its Fall / Winter 2012 collection, just in time for individuals wanting to spice up their outfit for the holiday season. Focusing on their key denim offering like Raw Essentials, New Radar, and Arc, the range is an extensive collection across both men’s and women’s which offers raw combinations.

G-Star Raw debuted its denim-inspired fashion collection in Manila four months ago at its flagship store in Bonifacio High Street Central. In that short span of time, it has begun transforming the way fashion-forward Filipinos look at their jeans. From a simple everyday wear, they look at a pair of denim jeans as investment pieces bound to become classic numbers.

“We have what we call forbidden combination—when you have denim on nylon but finishes off with a more formal-looking pair of shoes. You don’t normally see this. But with G-Star Raw clothes and footwear, the combination works,” she said.

G-Star’s key denim style this season is the Radar, designed by Pierre Morisset, whose lowered front pockets offer an effortless attitude without the need for wearing the denim low. There’s slim, tapered and loose fits in six different washings for the men. It becomes available for women for the first time this season.

The new District Collection, on the other hand, takes inspiration from outdoor living combined with metropolitan city life. There’s the Sherpa, a military ‘ice boot’; the Summit, a classic outdoor boot collection; the Carabiner, a hybrid outdoor boot.

Distributed exclusively by Kenrich Sidefame Corp., a member of retail giant Primer Group of Companies, G-Star offers complete men’s, women’s and accessory collection, many of which has denim incorporated in its design one way or another—from jeans to jackets; belts to bow ties; shirts to skirts; caps to cardigans.

“In the mid-90s, it was G-Star Raw that reintroduced raw. It paved the way for the raw denim to become mainstream once more. The brand has really come a long way since its first store opened in 1989 in Amsterdam,” she said.

To date, it has established presence in 70 countries around the world including major markets such as Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. G-Star can also be found in the US and the UK. In Asia, the brand is available in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and now, the Philippines.
