Gardenia's newest offering--the Wheat Cranberry Loaf

If you're a bread person like myself, you have probably encountered Gardenia's newest offering--the Wheat Cranberry Loaf--in your local grocery stores.

I've tried it myself and loved it. I appreciate the variety that Gardenia offers to its consumers. I especially love the Black Forest; the California Raisin Loaf; the Ube-Cheese bread combo; and the other new flavor Dates and Walnuts.

I buy my groceries at least once a week and Gardenia is always part of it. But it isn't until I received a press release the other day about the new bread flavor that I realized how much a part of my life Gardenia have been, being a health buff and all.

According to the release I received, the new Gardenia Wheat Cranberry Loaf is "studded with sweetened dried cranberries, a tangy-sweet fruit that's a natural source of antioxidants." These valuable antioxidants help maintain one's overall health by strengthening the immune system, slowing the aging process, and helping prevent degenerative diseases like cancer.

Cranberries are also known to prevent UTI or urinary tract infection because they contain flavanols which decrease the adherence of bacteria to the wall of the urinary tract. Cranberries even prevent teeth from forming plaque, so says the release.

As if those weren't enough reasons to try the exciting new stuff, the Wheat Cranberry Loaf is cholesterol-free. It also contains fiber from wheat which may help promote good digestion and proper weight management, plus vitamin A for good eyesight, calcium for strong bones and teeth, iron for healthy blood and for would-be moms, including folate that may help reduce the risk of birth defects. Whew, that's a mouthful of health benefits!

While the press release did a great job at detailing the nutritional benefits one gets from eating the bread, the one thing that makes me buy the Wheat Cranberry Loaf is its delicious taste--moist in the mouth, with just the right amount of sweetness.
