PHOTOS: Vegas' The Venetian hotel and casino

If you're ever in Vegas and want a slice of Italy, a visit to The Venetian should do the trick. I once asked an Italian who works as a gondolier there how the posh casino-hotel closely resembles Venice. His answer was that it was "very, very close."

Aside from its architecturally impressive structure, The Venetian is home to world-famous shows such as "The Phantom of the Opera" and "The Blueman Group." It's also where you can visit another iconic attraction, the "Madame Tussauds Las Vegas." [I am fortunate to have seen both shows and visited the latter during my trips there].

It's always nice to drop by The Venetian to watch free shows such as groups playing the violin; or an opera singer taking the stage. You can also take a picture with the "human statues" or ride the gondola (for a fee, of course).

According to The Venetian's Wikipedia page, the hotel contains 36 stories. This hotel also features a life-like replica tower of St Mark's Campanile in Venice, Italy. (See pictures below). It is a luxury hotel and casino resort located between Harrah's and The Palazzo on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip.
