If it’s “explosive” celebration that would make sparks fly—quite
literally—for you and your special someone this Valentine’s Day, then you’re in
for a romantically surprising treat.
In the tradition of hosting iconic events during the most
romantic season of the year, Close Up this year mixes impressive fireworks
displays with memorable music in the hopes of giving people that “moment”
couples need to express their love in an exciting way.
Hoping to create a scene straight out of a romantic movie,
the “Close Up Pyropalooza” is envisioned to be the “biggest, grandest, most
romantic” event of the year with the biggest fireworks show—and more.
Kick-starting off the 6-week event is the Pyromusical (one
of the many activities in the Pyropalooza umbrella event), where 11 of the
world’s top pyro masters would compete to become the best in what they do,
while wowing thousands of spectators.
The inaugural display of fireworks and music happens on February
11, just right before the big day, at the SM Mall of Asia. The event continues
every Saturday (until March 17).
“The Pyromusical is not your regular fireworks show because
they would be accompanied by music. It’s like a music opera but with
fireworks,” said Close Up brand manager Bryan Duruin during the event’s launch
last week.
Close Up, the toothpaste that promises to give individuals
the confidence they need to get closer (with whiter teeth and long-lasting
fresh breath), over the past years, has been known for launching huge and
memorable events.
Several years ago, the toothpaste company set a Guiness Book
of World Record title for the Philippines for having more than 6,000 couples
kiss simultaneously for 10 seconds in their “Lovapalooza” event.
The brand is also responsible for another record-breaking
event that created the “Largest Photo Mosaic in the World” in 2010.
“While the Pyropalooza is sure to be a romantic event that
should inspire people to get closer still, we’re not breaking any records this
year. This time around, we don’t want to put any pressure on anyone. We just
want people to have a very good time,” Duruin said.
As if the fireworks aren’t enough to get couples excited,
the Pyropalooza is also holding a big concert which features “American Idol”
alum David Archuleta in one of his final performances (before he takes a 2-year
break from the showbiz industry).
Joining Archuleta in serenading the lovebirds are
up-and-coming local artists such as Zia Quizon, Indios, Never The Strangers,
and the special appearance of real-life couple and online sensation JAMICH.
Couples who want free
access to this spectacular Valentine’s event needs only to present a P100 proof
of purchase of any Close Up products at the SM MOA Booths to get a FREE P100
ticket or a 50% discount on the P300 or P500 tickets.
