PHOTOS: Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial


The thing that I regret the most during my 3-day visit to Washington DC last week was not going to the inauguration of the new Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial, not too far from the world famous Washington Monument.

That's because if we did, we could have seen President Barack Obama, who attended the ceremony (the legendary Stevie Wonder was there, too, among other performers). How did we learn about this? The event was all over the news that night.

To make it worse, we were there the day before the ceremony and we saw they were preparing for something, but we didn't know it was going to be a big event.

Anyways, I later learned that the new Martin Luther King Jr Memorial is dedicated to the freedom leader who has inspired millions of people around the globe. His was the first memorial in Washington DC that was in tribute for a non-president.
