Must try adventure: The Aloguinsan River Eco-Cultural Cruise

The river cruising along the calming water of the Bojo River in Cebu is an "eco-cultural adventure" that is not to be missed. Located in the town of Aloguinsan (72 kilometers from Cebu City via Toledo; 58 kilometers via Carcar), the 1.4-kilometer long river is home to 22 mangrove species and 71 bird species (PS: The number of mangrove and bird species vary, depending on who you're talking to. But the point is that there's a lot of species that make up the river's ecosystem).

When we were there, our boater, 41-year-old Jimmy Montemar, enthusiastically told us about the rich natural resources the river holds. Mangroves, he said, were very important as they serve as feeding and breeding ground for fish. These also entraps trash that may have wondered in the area, making it easier for them to maintain the river's cleanliness.

I'd say the best time to go here is in the morning (around 8 or 9) or perhaps the afternoon (4 or 5pm) so the sun's heat won't be as searing. If you only have a half day time to spare, make sure you leave Cebu City very early (around 5 or 6am) so you can be back by lunch time, since driving to and fro could take up to two hours one way.
