Philips launches stylish lighting fixture for modern homes

In creating the perfect ambience at home, it’s not enough that homeowners buy an accent piece or two. Equally important is the lighting fixture that would provide the proper illumination for these pieces, as well as the rest of the room.

This is why Philips Lighting Philippines recently launched its 2013 Modern Living Collection, which aims not just to provide lighting solutions to any space, but to accentuate the sleek beauty of modern homes with the clean lines and pure shapes of its newest LED range.

The stylish lighting range features ceiling, table, and wall light options for both indoor and outdoor applications.

“There’s a beautiful transformation that LED lighting is doing. LED is very thin, flexible, and dynamic. A single light can change a room’s look and feel,” Fabia Tetteroo-Bueno, general manager for Philips Lighting sector, told the Inquirer.

Filipinos, in general, still see lighting as more of a functional piece—something that gives light. But there’s an increasing number of more adventurous individuals who have started showing appreciation to lighting fixtures as more of decorative and art pieces, too.

The minimalist designs of luminaires in the Modern Living Collection are paired with the latest LED lighting technology—tunable white. With this technology, individuals can control the kind of white one wants with a simple touch of a button or turn of a dial. It’s an easy way to create a personalized ambiance.

The high-power LED has an extremely long-life, lasting some 15,000 hours (or anything between 10 and 15 years), depending on use. LED saves up to 80 percent energy compared to traditional light sources.

“Lighting is not as simple as people may think. It takes good taste to match the proper lighting with the style of the interior. But if you get it right, the results could be stunning,” Bueno said.

Known mostly for its lamps, Philips launches this stylish set of lighting fixtures at a time when real estate construction is at an all-time high. Simply put: More construction means more houses and offices, which translates to more lighting needs.

“With the real estate boom in the country, it’s good to be in the Philippines right now,” she said. Instead of just selling lighting solutions, the company has shifted into concept selling.

Philips has had a range of stylish lighting options since 2010. But with a high price point still of LED then, it was hard to push the products. Today, however, price points have went down dramatically.

With a new distribution partner and a more mature awareness on decorative luminaires, it was ripe for the leading lighting brand in the world to aggressively promote the products.

“People associate Philips more with lamps. And while we’re very proud of that, we want people to recognize that we are more than lamps,” Bueno said.

Philips Lighting Philippines’ 2013 Modern Living Collection is now exclusively available at the Garden Barn showroom at North East Square, Upper Ground Floor, Unit 05-07, Connecticut Street, San Juan City.

She said: “In Philips, we don’t just want to provide light. We want to be part of the Filipino lifestyle; part of their lives. These products don’t just address their lighting essentials; it answers Filipinos’ home-accessorizing needs.”

Indeed, a single piece of a stylish lighting fixture is like a brooch in a dress: It spruces up everything else that comes along with it.
