Bobble: A drinking bottle that filters water on its own

While I love hydrating myself with water throughout the day, I'm guilty of not paying too much attention to how I actually drink it.

So when I got an invite last week for the launch of Bobble, a reusable drinking bottle that has its own filtration system, I knew I just had to come.

Bobble has an interesting proposition. It doesn't just want Filipinos to start drinking more water every day. The people who brought the international brand to the country want water-loving Pinoys to become more conscious of the waste they could inevitably be piling up (i.e. PEP bottles from buying too many bottled waters).

So they want you to buy a Bobble instead. After all, with the Bobble's filtration system, the quality of the water you get to drink is almost the same as that of the ones you would have gotten had you bought a bottled water, they say.

It's a win-win situation for everyone. The Bobble is a colorfully chic drinking bottle, designed by renowned industrial artist Karim Rashid—the man behind numerous luxury goods and popular product designs for Christofle, Alessi, Umbra, Bonaldo, Vondom, and Hugo Boss, among others.

Bobble's shape appear simple at first glance but its iconic shape and curvy form are strategically designed to make it easier to carry around. The bobble also has several eco-friendly features such as its unique, replaceable and recyclable carbon filter that purifies potable water by eliminating chlorine and organic contaminants. The result is a fresher and crisper clean drinking water.

The Bobble's filter works up to 300 uses or roughly two months. After which, users must replace it with a new one for best results. A 550-ml container is priced at P595 while the filters at P345.

Since Bobble was introduced in February 2010, it has been an outstanding success and has been very well-received by consumers and global retailers. According to a press release handed to yours truly at the launch, the Bobble has taken home numerous awards including a Green Good Design Award in both 2010 and 2011; Gold Edison Award 2011; a Red Dot Award 2011; an American Graphic Design Award; and three Pentawards, among many others.

There's a Bobble for everyone as it comes in six youthful colors--green, red, black, yellow, magenta, and blue).

The Bobble is available at Aura Athletica in the Power Plant Mall. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/bobbleph.
