Tell me what mattress you sleep in and I’ll tell you who you are.
That’s not exactly how the saying goes, but it might as well
have been. After all, personal style, comfort, and functionality have seeped
into the bedroom—starting from how an individual chooses the bed he or she
succumbs to when it’s time to call it a night.
“My grandfather always told us that there are two things in
life that people should never scrimp on—a good pair of shoes and a high quality
mattress. That’s because when you’re not on your shoes, you’re sleeping in your
mattress,” Marco Magni, the global sales director for Magniflex, told the
Inquirer.
Renowned for their use of all-natural materials, Magniflex
mattresses are not only beneficial to maintaining one’s posture (resulting in a
deeper slumber) and overall well-being, they are also aesthetically pleasing—a
simple and effective way of sprucing up the bedroom.
“Several years ago, a mattress is a mattress. People don’t
pay much attention to it. But now, people are starting to realize that they
need to invest on a quality mattress to have a restful sleep that they
deserve,” said Magni, who flew in from Italy to formally launch the line of
mattresses in the country.
The Philippines is the third country in Asia where the
mattresses became available, following Japan and Singapore. Korea, China, and
Hong Kong are next in line.
Distributed by HomeStudio, Magniflex mattresses are
customizable and can be cut to measure, to conform to one’s height for optimum
comfort. The mattresses are made with natural fibers such as wood, bamboo,
gold, silver, maize, botany wool and cotton, which makes them hypo-allergenic,
breathable, and eco-compatible.
“A sofa is something you buy for show, but a mattress is something you buy for yourself,” said the Italian entrepreneur. “It’s something you will use for at least 12 years of your life.”
Magniflex uses memofoam technology, which conforms to the
body’s contours and shape. It is made either with a 3-zone ergonomic structure
(which supports body weight in three fundamental areas: shoulders, body and
legs); or the 7-zone ergonomic structure (for support of the head, shoulders,
trunk, waist, legs, knees, and ankles).
The Italian mattresses have been available in the country
for some two years, but didn’t aggressively promote the brand until now.
“We we’re looking for the perfect distributor and we’ve
found it with HomeStudio,” said Magni. “We’ve sold some 1,000 mattresses since
we came here. Now, we expect sales to spike up especially after we put in more
effort in communicating our products and the benefits one gets from it.”
The challenge for Magniflex as a brand, he said, is people’s
budget. That’s probably because a Magniflex mattress costs somewhere between
P130,000 and P220,000.
He said: “They’re not cheap, but they’re worth every peso.
Nowadays, people look for quality and quality is something every Magniflex
mattress has—from raw materials used, to the stitching, to the packaging,
everything is top notch. It’s perhaps the best investment you can ever make for
your home.”
