New York's subway station is complicated, but highly effective mode of transport |
Boy, it has been a while since I updated you about my long vacation here in "the land of the free." If you've read my blog entry "Waking up in Vegas (Part 3)," you probably know that I am in New York as I write this.
I arrived at the Big Apple on October 12 (after three weeks in Vegas). If you're wondering what took me so long to write an entry about the NY leg of my trip, it's either because I'm tired and/or sleepy from walking around town that I couldn't find the energy to write anything (until now, obviously).
Out of the nine days post-Vegas, I've spent three of them in Washington DC (an experience which I'll write about in another blog entry later). [Okay, in summary, I've spent 21 days in Vegas, went to New York for three days, visited Washington DC for three days, and have been back in NY since.]
So far, I've gone to three museums here in NY--the Skyscraper Museum, dedicated to supertall buildings; the Brooklyn Museum, which has a very thorough collection of Egyptian artifacts and Renaissance paintings; and to the National Museum of American Indian, which have one of the more interesting museum stores I've seen.
I've also been to several beautiful parks (again, more of this later), watched a movie ("Dreamhouse"), and ate at several festive restaurants (my fave is "Cubana Cafe" which I stumbled upon last night as I was walking around Park Slope).
I stay with a friend who was my high school classmate back then. She now works as a nurse here in Brooklyn. The fun stuff really begins tomorrow when another friend of ours, another high school classmate, comes from San Francisco. The power of three! Excited much! :)
