It's been a long time coming, but the Kalibo Airport (gateway to beach paradise Boracay) has finally gotten a much-needed facelift. From a depressing state it was in when I was last in Boracay last September, it was timely that I get to be one of the first ones to experience the new airport (apparently, the renovation was finished only this month).
I was impressed with the changes in the airport--the facade is more sophisticated (not at all Third World-looking); airport personnel appeared more professional; the air condition was working properly; and the restrooms clean and orderly.
I must admit that I have no idea who Godofredo P. Ramos is, but whoever he is, it's obvious he was an important person on whoever is behind the renovation of the airport as his likeness can be seen all throughout.

Bronze decorations such as these are abundant in the airport. |

Electronic directory machines that tells tourists about Boracay--what to do here; places to stay; and historical background, among many others.

A very far cry from the shabby restroom of the past. Yey! |

One of the things that the electronic directory machines advocate :)

The airports in Manila don't even have this! Eat your heart out NAIA/MIA! :) |
