Starting this week, I'll be posting entries called "Week that was"--basically a recap of what happened to me the past seven (or so) days. While I blog about the more significant events or happenings, there are those that do not necessarily merit a whole blog entry. They do, however, deserve a bit of a mention. Suffice it to say, this "Week that was" is a collection of "news bits" that had an impact on my life one way or the other. Here they are:
1. I saw three blockbuster movies this week
I was at the movie house three times this past week--and for good reason! There's the "X-Men: First Class" (the premiere of which was sponsored by Discovery Channel; "Kung Fu Panda" (which I watched with my niece); and "Insidious" (which I watched alone!). The week prior, I also saw "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides" (thanks to Visa, which sponsored the screening event).
2. Props for the smoking ban
As a hardcore advocate of ban on smoking, I was very pleased to know that the law's implementation has started--supposedly. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to know or care about these ban. Walking along Ayala Avenue in Makati City is hell because it is a virtual chimney. I suspect this law wouldn't have any teeth (like so many other laws). How could it be implemented when the police officers (or law makers) themselves are the ones who smoke?
3. Inquirer's digital edition
I was so happy when the Philippine Daily Inquirer finally launched its digital edition. Unlike the website (www.inquirer.net), the digital edition allows readers to read the news and features as they see it on paper. It's like somebody scanned the whole paper for us. Subscribers can even comment on the stories. Fantastic! Perfect for Filipinos abroad who want to stay in the loop.
4. Drop Dead Diva
"Drop Dead Diva" is a series about an aspiring model who died, pressed the return button when she went to heaven, and ended up being trapped inside the body of a brainy lawyer. I finished the first two seasons of the show in four days! I haven't been in love in a series like this since "Charmed" (my all time most favoritest, bestest show ever! :D ). I can't wait for the Season 3 premiere on June 19! :)
5. Most played songs for May
Last May, Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)" was the most played song in my music players. (Last April, it was Rihanna and Britney's "S&M"). Runner-up for most played song for May is "I'm into you" by Jennifer Lopez feat Lil Wayne followed by Katy Perry and Kanye West's "E.T." and Adele's "Rolling in the deep."
